PME Energy conducted an ASHRAE Level II audit on the Grand Cosmopolitan Hotel, located in Barsha, Dubai.
The Grand Cosmopolitan Hotel – Dubai, one of the most prestigious hotels in the UAE. Grand Cosmopolitan Hotel is home to more than 230 luxurious rooms, including suites of up to 140 sqm/suite, designed to provide the perfect mix of comfort and relaxation. The hotel also presents several dining venues, including coffee products at Americano Café and Lounge, buffets at Gardenia Brasserie, and Pacifico Terrace. Moreover, the hotel provides conference rooms for meetings and events.
The energy consumption and load distribution of the hotel was assessed, and energy-saving opportunities were identified. The hotel was also benchmarked against the results in the EmiratesGBC Energy and Water Benchmarking for UAE Hotels using the Site Energy EUI and EUI per annual guest-night.
The hotel – which is a new facility, comissioned in 2021 – boasted energy efficient technology and optimized procedures. The baseline of the facility was obtained and in turn, HVAC and control opportunities were identified in order to optimize the consumption.
The facility is connected to DEWA via 4 meters,. As part of the scope of work, a solar solution design was presented alonside a technical and financial feasibility study on the available spaces. Other energy conservation measures were also identified that could reduce the facilities annual consumption by up to 10% annually.The existing BMS system was also investigated, with optimization opportunities defined.
